Leonardo da Vinci, famed artist and scientist, created his version of Vitruvian Man around 1487. Often
referred to as Proportions of Man, Leonardo's drawing is symmetrically centered in both a circle and a
square, illustrating the precisely unbiased male figure and the merging of science and art. Some suppose
Leonardo's acutely diverse talents — painter, mathematician, architect, writer, anatomist, musician, engineer,
sculptor — enabled him to be the first to accurately create such a universal, balanced depiction of man.
Vitruvian Man is a representation of man's proportional existence and a true depiction of our portfolios —
perfectly unbiased, perfectly proportionate. In its most natural form, man is a true microcosm of science and art,
the balanced universe, and the balanced portfolio.
